Effective Public Speaking

Public speaking ranks right up there with death in terms of the things we are terribly afraid to do. Whether it’s the fear of being watched closely by others, or the insecurity and self-conscious feeling of slipping up during the presentation, these six tips will help you give a polished, professional speech that you (and your audience) can be proud of! http://www.passivecashcow.com

1. Know your audience. This is the single best piece of advice for delivering a presentation that really hits home. What are there interests? Their backgrounds? Why are they coming to hear you speak or present? What ideas do you have to share with them? Approaching your speech as more of a “me-to-you” discussion rather than a full-blown broadcast will make it more manageable (and less stressful) and easier on you.

2. Share a story. In public speaking circles, this is called a “hook” – something that gets your audience’s attention and makes them sit up and listen. Start off by asking questions or sharing an experience you had. People like to be active, rather than passive listeners. By giving them something that they can identify with, you’ll find that these people are, in essence – just like you! And that makes giving a presentation a whole lot easier. Just be sure your story has a beginning, a point, and an ending. There’s nothing quite as bad as telling a story to an engaged audience and then forgetting why you told it!

3. What do you want your audience to do as a result of your speech? What’s really at the heart of your presentation? By concentrating on the “end result” rather than slogging through the beginning, you can create a powerful punch that drives home your message instead of rambling on and losing your audience’s interest (or missing the point entirely!)

4. If you’re selling a product, focus on the benefits instead of the features. People would much rather hear WHAT a product can do for them than HOW it does it. Narrow down your product’s features until you get to the core of how it solves a problem. If you need help with figuring out the difference between a feature and a benefit, ask yourself “So What?” For example, if you’re selling a vacuum cleaner that has a hypoallergenic filter, put yourself in the customer’s shoes and ask yourself “so what?” The answer would be something like, “It picks up dust, mold and pet dander”. Again, “so what?” Answer, “You’ll feel relief from runny nose and sneezing plus itchy, water eyes.” Now THAT’s a benefit! 1 Step System

5. Above all, make sure your speech ends in a way that reiterates the beginning. Too often, speakers get carried away with the details and leave their audiences asking, “What was the point of all that?” People naturally digest information in “chunks”, so focus on the big picture rather than all the pieces. If the details are just as important, save it for an after-speech handout that the audience can take with them and read over at their leisure.

If you keep these five tips in mind, you’ll not only have an easier time overcoming your fear of public speaking, but you’ll have a very appreciative audience who will in turn be more receptive and eager to try your product or service. Go get ‘em!

The Coming Netowrk Marketing Boom

It seems the network marketing, or MLM, industry has been on the verge of an "explosion" for about as long as, well, there has been a network marketing industry. Certainly there have been growth spurts in popularity over the years, but the business just never really - exploded, at least for any sustained period of time. Even those occasional growth pops were always followed by slumps in the MLM economy. Yet, throughout it's history, even in the midst of those slumps, and especially over the last two decades, many of those who would promote it would tell us that, soon, the network marketing industry is going to, dare i say it again... EXPLODE! Ah, if I only had a dollar for every time I've heard any derivative of the word "explode" as it relates to network marketing I'd be a wealthy man. About as wealthy as I'd be if I got a dollar for every time an MLM distributor used the term "revolutionary," but that's another subject. 1 Step System

The various promoters of this alleged upcoming MLM boom have always had at least one good reason for believing their claim. It wasn't entirely on hype. Nothing more than the monumental and numerous advantages that network marketing offers to those who want to start a home based business certainly should have been reason enough to think that, soon, the masses are going to discover those advantages and flock to MLM en mass. We could surely forgive them for their optimistic delusion. http://www.passivecashcow.com

As history has shown us in many industries, the merits of a product alone won't necessarily sell it. When Ruth Stafford Peale said "find a need and fill it", she was close. Personally, I'd rather find a "want" and fill it. Obviously, people would be more likely to obtain something they want as oppose to need, and they've not flocked to network marketing en mass for no other reason than they simply can't want something they neither understand nor even know exists! There is overwhelming evidence that the reason this industry stands at a little over 7 million distributors is because, for the most part, those 7 million network marketers are all pitching their opportunities - to each other. This has created a great ignorance about network marketing among most Americans. And I use the word "ignorance" deliberately here, which does not mean unintelligent. Ignor-ance means simply, to ignore readily available information. And the vast majority of the U.S. population has, at least up until now, utterly ignored network marketing not only due to a lack of want, but a lack of knowledge as to it's benefits, or that it even exists.

But that is all about to change... forever. 1 Step System

Manage Your Time and Business

We all know the Internet is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have an Internet business, you may also find yourself open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. http:www.passivecashcow.com

You read all the advice on time management. You're told to set regular work hours, make lists and prioritize. Well, if you're like me with a newborn and a toddler, there are no regular working hours. There's no regular anything and your to-do list is probably so huge, you need
another to-do list to remind you to work on your original to-do list. So, what do you do?

Take another look at the to-do list and the deadlines you've set. Use your to-do list as a guideline, not gospel. Is your to-do list filled with things like...

change font-face on all pages
do keyword research for product pages
write one more article for ezine
...ask yourself, "Who is going to notice if I don't do these things?" The answer is, inevitably,"Me". If you constantly find yourself with a to-do list filled with things that your average visitor or customer wouldn't notice, you have three choices:

Allow yourself to feel pressured by these unattainable goals until you finally explode.
If funds permit, hire someone to help you with the tasks you can never seem to get done. Hire a virtual assistant, a web designer, a search engine expert or whatever you need.
If you don't have the funds to hire anyone, then you'll just have to start letting thingsslide. Scrap them altogether or set them aside until you have time. Yes, I'm recommending procrastination.
It's not healthy to spend all your time at a computer and there's only so much one person can do. 1 Step System

Send out your ezine a day or two late. Or send it out with one less article.
Is the font on your website really that important?
The search engines can wait for those keywords until after you've had a good sleep.
If the only person who will notice is you, why are you putting yourself under such pressure?

Remember what your mom used to say? "It's a beautiful day. Go play outside." Now go do it!
